Hike to the south crater rim of Mt St Helens, WA with views of the lava dome, the surrounding glacier (only growing glacier in WA), Spirit Lake and its log jam, the blown-out northern face of the volcano, the multi-colored crater rim walls, the lingering cornices and distant views of other volcanos (Mt Rainier, Mt Adams, Mt Hood). The climb starts in the forest, moved to scrambling a long boulder field, and ends with a steep pumice slope that is like climbing sand. Beautiful hike!
