The origins of Villa La Massa probably date back to the end of the 13th century or the beginning of the 14th century. In 1525, Villa La Massa became the summer residence on the Arno River banks of Santi Landini, a famous Editor belonging to the Florentine Aristocracy. Built in 1525 as a fascinating country house for an aristocratic Florentine family, Villa La Massa was the eminent European aristocrats' property until 1948, when it was transformed into a luxury hotel. After a complete renovation, it reopened, and its five hundred years of history live on, telling us tales of Renaissance splendor and the lifestyle of Florentine aristocrats in every nook.

The five-star hotel is immersed in the heart of the Chianti-Rufina wine region, on the Arno River banks, yet just a few kilometers outside Florence; this splendid mansion is a place where refined elegance beckons total relaxation from the moment of arrival. Its 22 acres of gardens, brimming with olive groves and lemon trees, create an amazing pastoral setting. Villa La Massa features 41 rooms, all individually decorated and divided into four classical Tuscan-style buildings: the Noble Villa, the Mill, the Villino, and the Casa Colonica. Luxury rooms and suites feature canopy beds, boiseries, frescoed ceilings, tapestries, refined marble bathrooms, all of which evoke classic sophistication and warm elegance. Each room or suite has either a park or river view: fairytale-inspired sceneries allowing guests to immerse themselves in the Tuscan countryside. Member of the Leading Hotels of the World, Villa La Massa is a beautiful luxury hotel in Florence and has been part of the Villa d’Este Group since 1998.

With its 37 rooms and suites, each superbly furnished in the traditional Florentine style, Villa La Massa is the perfect place to rest after a long day of touring in Florence. Two magnificent suites: the Presidential Suite, complete with a private garden and a dining gazebo, and the new Parco Suite offering a spectacular view of olive trees and the Arno.

The gourmet restaurant “Il Verrocchio” offers the traditional Tuscan cuisine with over 400 labels of wine; its terrace overlooking the Arno River is a unique setting for romantic dinners.
