"Amid the hopelessness and crime that plague many urban neighborhoods is a 38-block area in Detroit known as Ravendale where families are working together to fight poverty and drugs. Made up of 1,100 homes, Ravendale has an unemployment rate of 33%, with most households receiving government assistance. The residents of this neighborhood, and the positive changes they have made in their community, are the focus of 'A Neighborhood Redeemed.'

'"Narrated by Ossie Davis, 'A Neighborhood Redeemed' focuses on the revitalization efforts of the Ravendale residents who have formed block club to rid their street of crack houses and help repair decaying buildings and homes. The program profiles several residents who [not] only spearheaded the revalorization efforts, but, by overcoming personal obstacles, have become prime examples of its success. 'A Neighborhood Redeemed' can serve as an uncommon illustration of how a community can meet the challenge of reaffirming their homes and neighborhoods.
