Can you stick weld Aluminium is a question that has been asked a million times. I for the longest time thought that you needed to use a mig/tig to get weld Aluminium. Then i went down the path of Aluminium Brazing.
I first failed with the Aluminium Brazing
   • Let's have a go at aluminium welding....
Then i found some success with the Aluminium Brazing.
   • Let's have ANOTHER go at aluminium we...
But i really wanted to give Aluminium welding with the stick welder a go. I am most comfortable with the stick welder on mild steel welding ultra thin through to medium thickness metals. If the job gets too fancy and i get my Mig out or just ask a better welder mate.

The idea of trying out these rods is not to teach or show off it was straight up "oh haven't heard of them before, let me have a go"

So without delay i jumped on ebay found a ten pack and ordered myself some stick rods. Here we are now months later and i finally got around to giving them a go!

I really enjoyed making this video and i learnt a lot along the way. i think if i had a few more rods and some more time i could pick it up a lot better. It seems to be one of those things that takes a knack from practice.

The three things i found most helpfull were
- Preheat the material (this caused me the most greif)
- Clean the material
- Scratch start the rod.

Everything else is a matter of trial and error and unlucky for me i only has 10 rods to weld with!

The end result was some cold thick beads that were not of putting on the internet quality haha

As always please put your comments down below with hints/tips/abuse and thanks for watching!
