The WBC has given David Benavidez a two-week extension to decide between his mandatory spots at 168 and 175 pounds. Benavidez, currently the WBC interim light heavyweight champion, can choose to face Artur Beterbiev for the full title at 175 or pursue a fight with Canelo Alvarez for the middleweight title at 168. However, holding mandatory spots in both divisions is unfair to other contenders who have worked hard to earn their rankings.
