Today's video is Part 2 of our Smart Home Energy series. In this video, we take a look at how to pull data from your "smart" utility meters (gas, water, and electricity) using a software-defined radio. This bit of hardware connected to a Linux box is able to grab the information from supported meters and transmit that data to Home Assistant over MQTT.

I also show you how to hack a "virtual" gas meter into the Home Assistant energy dashboard.
