We bid farewell to a true legend. George "Funky" Brown, the dynamic drummer and founding member of Kool & The Gang, has passed away at the age of 74,

Formed in 1964 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Kool & the Gang is a dynamic American band blending R&B, soul, and funk. Founding members include Robert "Kool" Bell, Ronald Bell, Dennis "Dee Tee" Thomas, Robert "Spike" Mickens, Charles Smith, George Brown, Woodrow "Woody" Sparrow, and Ricky Westfield. Over the years, they've embraced various musical styles such as jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, disco, rock, and pop. The group, after several name changes, settled on "Kool and the Gang," signing with De-Lite Records and launching their debut album.
