Tanmay Dhanania is here at Cannes with his film - 'The Shameless'. Spoke with him about his role in his film, how expensive and difficult it is for indie film crew to get to Cannes and so much more. Tanmay told me how he still gets royalty for a British show he did 10 years ago.

Tanmay Dhanania was born in Calcutta. He studied Nuclear Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley and then trained as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He played Naseem Ali Khan in Indian Summers (2015) and Ajay in Brahman Naman (2016) which premiered in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, 2016 and went on to be India's first Netflix Original. He played Prince Jeejeebuoy in The Durrells of Corfu and Phanishwar in Garbage, which premiered at the 68th Berlinale and is now on Netflix. Tanmay is in Cat Sticks which won the jury award at Slamdance 2019 and is now on Mubi.

The Shameless is a 2024 Indian film directed and written by Konstantin Bojanov.It premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

The 77th annual Cannes Film Festival took place from 14 to 25 May 2024.American filmmaker and actress Greta Gerwig served as jury president for the main competition.French actress Camille Cottin hosted the opening and closing ceremonies. American filmmaker Sean Baker won the Palme d'Or, the festival's top prize, for the comedy-drama film Anora.
