30 May 2010
at Ateneo Art Gallery, Ateneo de Manila University
in Manila, the Philippines

This is the private documentary of the performers & the composer of "Crossoverlap", performed in the exhibition –Creative Index-, a part of the 10th Anniversary Regional Celebration of the API Fellowships Program, funded by The Nippon Foundation.

It was assumed viewers would sometimes glance at this performance while looking at other exhibits and hearing other sounds from some of them in this gallery.

●CONCEPT
All the elements are stirring, changing, crossoverlapping each other as the patterns appear on the surface of the water.

This work is a kind of installation using dance and music inspired by the specific situation. The dancers were trained in traditional ways of Javanese and Thai dance, while the violinist was trained in western way and the music was composed based on contemporary thoughts and techniques. Through their bodies that experienced "Asian", "traditional", "Western" and "contemporary" performances, the expressions based on these cultures crossover and overlap unexpectedly. All of this "crossoverlap" make changes the patterns appears on the surface of the water.
