Here's an early demo to "Les Poissons" from Howard and Alan's first collaboration with Disney, The Little Mermaid. This track comes from the 1994 Disney Records CD set, The Music Behind the Magic.
Here's Alan Menken's song note from the set's included book:
"This was one of those songs where I always assumed I would replace the music with something more sophisticated. But, somehow, this silly melody and simple chord pattern work for the scene. We did know, however, that the chase music had to go."

Les poisons, les poissons
How I love les poisons
Love to chop
And to serve little fish
First I cut off their heads and
Then I pull out their bones
Ah, mais oui, ca c'est toujour delish
Les poisons, les poisons
He-he-he, haw-haw-haw
With the clever I hack them in two
I pull out what's inside
And I serve it up fried
God, I love little fishes, don't you?
Here's something for tempting the palate
Prepared in the classic technique
First you pound the fish flat with a mallet
Then you slash through the skin
Give the belly a slice, then you rub some salt in
'Cause that makes it taste nice
Ah, the crab!
I'll give you a demonstration
Of my special preparation
First nab the crab
Then you grab the crap
Then you stab the crab!
