HQ VIDEO AND AUDIO HARD SUBTITLES

The Following presentation is an A.I. enhanced feature of the Carl Jung interview with Richard Evans. They met for four consecutive days in August of 1957 in Zurich. The result was an iconic disclosure of the principles Jung explored during his lifetime.

A.I. tools used:
Video enhancement:
Topaz Video A.I., to clean up all the compression mess and artefacts from the downloaded video. Upscaled to 4K resolution in original aspect ratio.
Audio enhancement:
www.auphonic.com, for cleaning the noise on the audio track, which made it hard to understand what is said.
Transcription:
www.turboscribe.ai, for a quick export of the spoken words in a .srt file, that can be easily be incorporated in the edit timeline. Far from perfect, it has some real funny mix-up’s that totally change the meaning of the content as delivered.

Subtitles:
I choose to incorporate hard subtitles into the film to clear up, what Carl Jung’s words intent to portray. The automatic translation as provided by You Tube is very faulty and sometimes confusing.

For the subtitles I used as a basis the A.I. generated .srt file that needed quite some modification. Furthermore I used the official transcript of this interview to fill in all the lapses and to correct errors. But, it was not covering all what was discussed. To make the official transcription clearer and more fluent, some of the written content is not identical to the spoken words. In some occurrences I used the text as in the official transcript, because it was more to the point than the spoken words. In other instances I had to search the internet for some German terms that where not to be found in the official transcription, including some names of the people mentioned in the interview. There are one or two instances during this three hour long conversation that I could not fill in correctly, and for sure there might be some mistakes I did not notice, but I’m not rendering this video again!!

Respect towards the people who pulled it off to make a transcription of the interview. It must have been a hell of a job. If you are interested in this interview, the transcript is worthwhile to read because the film is only three hours, but four hours where recorded. The transcript contains a lot of information that is not featured in the audio-visual presentation.
