💭 03.02.2022 — «Play stupid (social) games, win stupid prizes – the stupid status society. But is it really like that? Today, I ordered the Richard Mille RM67-01 because I want to have the Richard Mille RM67-02. To get this beautiful piece of mechanical art, I need to build a history, some reputation. But spending over $150,000 on a watch is a strange feeling…

I can remember very well when my mom and I were sitting in the back of my grandpa's car, talking about how I would one day purchase my first Rolex. And now, a few years later, we skipped a lot of steps and jumped right into the king’s class of the watch game. And I’m wondering: Why do I want to possess something like this? Is it really me, or is it my ego, showing and signalling to others that I made it? Do I feel not successful enough, and need to show it to others? I’m torn. Wealth is not just money and status; I want to avoid hierarchy games. I want to buy assets and avoid bad liabilities. I want to cultivate a selling habit, not a buying habit. But something else is true as well: Accumulation without purpose is hoarding. Through the McLaren, I’ve seen that these goods can also be a ticket. A ticket into a society that judges based on such goods. Money attracts money. Wealth attracts wealth. And how do you know someone is wealthy without any signal?

A short story I consider as useful:
The worth of money is not in its possession, but in its use. A miser, to make sure of his property, sold all that he had and converted it into a great lump of gold, which he hid in a hole in the ground, and went continually to visit and inspect it. This roused the curiosity of one of
his workmen, who, suspecting that there was a treasure, when his master’s back was turned, went to the spot, and stole it away. When the miser returned and found the place empty, he wept and tore his hair. But a neighbour who saw him in this extravagant grief, and learned the cause of it, said: “Fret thyself no longer, but take a stone and put it in the same place, and think that it is your lump of gold; for, as you never meant to use it, the one will do you as much good as the other»

WHO AM I?
My name is Ludwig Schroedl. Coming from a very small German village, I managed to create a $40+ million family office from scratch within the last eight years. The journey was sometimes lonely, pressured, and heavy. For that reason, I journaled throughout the entire time. This channel reveals my journal in video format and serves as a public library for you, my future children, and me. The channel's purpose is to master knowledge, share experiences, reflect on learnings, remember where I come from, and strive to become 0.1% better every day while helping others do the same. So we can become the best versions of ourselves possible!
