I discovered poi for the first time while researching my next Halloween costume, Katara from Avatar the Last Airbender. The art form is a combination of the veil prop of Belly Dancers and the Maori tribe's prop Poi. It was a skill created to satisfy fire performer's desire to display their ability without risk of burns while maintaining the interest and flair of fire.

As you can see, this is a practice that takes years to master and I still have a lot to learn. I hope you all enjoyed this compilation of my progress over the past couple months!
