Cricket has evolved over time with many rule changes, some for the better and others that have backfired. As the T20 World Cup 2024 kicks off from June 2nd, we bring you some fascinating facts and the new rules introduced this year.

For the first time in T20 World Cup history, the ICC has introduced the "Stop Clock" rule, requiring the next over to start within 60 seconds after the previous one. Players exceeding this time limit will receive two warnings, and on the third offense, the batting team will be awarded 5 extra runs. This rule aims to maintain the game's pace but could be tricky for some fast bowlers.

Interestingly, this T20 World Cup is co-hosted by two boards - the West Indies and USA Cricket Associations. This is a first for the T20 World Cup, as all previous editions had a single host board. It's also notable that the USA will host an ICC event for the first time and will host cricket in the 2028 Olympics.

This edition also features a modular stadium in the USA, the Nassau County Stadium in New York, which can accommodate 34,000 spectators. This temporary setup will revert to a park after the tournament.

With 20 teams participating, the tournament will be more exciting than ever. The teams are divided into four groups of five, with the top two from each group advancing to the Super 8 stage. The top teams from the Super 8 will compete in the semifinals, leading to the final on June 29th in Barbados.

To address timing issues, both semifinal matches will have additional time allocated, with Semi-Final One getting 190 extra minutes and Semi-Final Two getting 260 extra minutes. Both teams will need to complete their innings within three hours and ten minutes.

Stay tuned to see which team will make it to the final on June 29th. If rain or other issues occur, the final will be played on June 30th. Meanwhile, enjoy the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match on June 9th and let us know what you find most interesting about it.
