Turkey Hunting in the 18th century was a bit different then it is today. Without game laws, the killing of wild turkeys was only limited by the type of weapon and the imagination.

For me, the best part is calling them.

From my research, I have found two types of calls that were around in the 18th century; the wingbone call and the human voice mimicking turkey sounds. In this video I demonstrate them both.

And if you are looking for something to do with all of those turkey feathers, you can check out a turkey feather blanket (or mantle) and listen to a description from James Adair about it.

Lastly, stay safe this turkey season. Hunting accidents are all too common and certainly not new. I relay a turkey hunting accident story from 1760 towards the end of the video.
