In this 15 minutes talk at a TedX event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Yusuf Hashim shares his perspective and philosophy of life.

Yusuf spent 30 years of his life working in the Oil, Gas and Chemicals industry. He chose to quit working at 53, as soon as his parental obligations were completed, to spend the time while he was still physically healthy, to explore the world through photography, by driving through more than 100 countries in 6 continents, and sailing to both polar regions, to shoot pictures.
He has sailed 8 times to Antarctica, and he has also sailed in Greenland, Svalbard, Iceland, the Falklands, South Georgia, and in a Russian icebreaker to Wrangle Island in the Russian Arctic.

Yusuf exhorts us to Live Life, and not to Just Exist. He says Life is finite and time is precious. Work is a means to an end, and not an end in itself. During the work phase of life, we should postpone consumption, save, accumulate capital and strive to create a Retirement Investment Portfolio that will yield a passive income flow that is equal to, or exceeds at least 75% of your last salary.

Yusuf says, your money is NOT your money until YOU spend it. So do not feel reluctant to spend your children's inheritance, because when you die, your widow and your kids, will not feel guilty about spending it all.
