Helsingør classically known in English as Elsinore, is a city in eastern Denmark. Helsingør has a population of around 47.000. Helsingør and Helsingborg in Sweden together form the northern reaches of the Øresund Region, centered on Copenhagen and Malmö. The Forsea Ferries and the Sundbusserne boats connects Helsingør with Helsingborg, 4 km across the Øresund. Its castle Kronborg was used by William Shakespeare as the setting for his play Hamlet.
Today Helsingør is known from the TV crime series "Sommerdahl" where the summer seems to be eternal, and detective Dan Sommerdal investigates crimes together with his best friend, detective Flemming Torp, and his wife, Marianne, a criminal technician.
