So the Nomad Active Strap. Is not great to use. After 5 weeks with this strap, I still can’t get over how uncomfortable it is.

BUT that might just be me. From a design perspective, there’s something on this strap that’s going to make your Apple Watch feel incredible cheap. BUT if you can look past that flaw, this honestly is one of the very few products that you could use all sweaty and still use it while being all fancy.

Still want it? See how much it is on Amazon:

At MREH, Monty and I base our reviews on actual usage and with these watch straps, well, we use them. Even if it means wearing two Apple Watches at once. The thing that gets me with Watch Strap reviews is how many articles out there show you products with minimal usage.

Where are the stress marks on that strap?

When it comes to design, this leather strap is made from the same leather that makes their Active Rugged Case for the iPhone and AirPod’s great. It’s a leather that’s made from a tannery called Heinen in Germany and is quite waterproof.

Apparently this tannery uses a high-tech process to fuse fats into the strap. Cool.

They basically smeared butter on a strap and called it a day. I kid. I kid.

Regardless, the waterproof of this strap has been confirmed from my reviews of the Nomad Active Rugged iPhone and AirPod cases.

The underside of the strap has a series of ventilation channels which do help a little bit but will still get a little sweaty if you workout with it but with the hydrophobic leather, you can just rinse it off and get on with your day.

Now when it comes to the lug’s, Nomad uses their own. I usually sing praises of companies that try to be unique BUT it still needs to work well. The lugs on the Nomad Active Strap do not fit the Apple Watch well.

There is nothing more annoying to me than putting on a bad accessory on an expensive piece of hardware. There is so much give in the lugs if you look at the closely. Do the loose lugs effect the watch strap on a daily basis? No BUT you’d expect a product that cost $70 dollars to do better right?

When it comes to using it as a strap, as I said at the beginning of the video, I still don’t think I’ve broken the strap in. It still feels incredibly tough and not loose. The strap is still near impossible to get into the free loop which is annoying.

Using the strap with my laptops was non-descript, it didn’t bother me at all. It didn’t get in the way. Now getting sweaty with the band wasn’t bad either as the ventilation channels made “moist wrist” less of a thing but it’s no where close to the breathability like the Sport Loop.

I like the idea behind the Active Loop, being able to use a leather strap at the gym, while in the ocean, while in the shower, while water the lawn and then feel immediately comfortable to use the same strap at a meeting? At $70 bucks, it’s still cheaper than any leather strap you can get at the Apple store but still, I think for $70 bucks, the lugs should fit a little better…

Anyways, which leather strap do you guys want me to review next? I’ve got a Spigen Retrofit band that looks leathery but i need something else after that.
