Today, we begin our Bible Study on Psalm 1. Psalm 1 contains no superscription, but serves as the introduction to the entire Psalter. It is often paired with Psalm 2. This Psalm encourages the reader to meditate on the Torah (Hebrew word for Law). To do so is to be like a tree planted next to a canal. As the water nourishes the tree, so the Torah nourishes the reader. Unlike the chaff, which the wind blows away, the one who meditates on the Torah is planted and has roots.
