Mono stringed instrument Pena is a traditional musical instrument of Manipur. It is used mainly used in Lai Haraoba festival and it falls in Lute category.

According to Meitei belief, the bow of Pena is considered as Male principality and the body or resonator as Female principality
Mingled with eerie sound of it, intonation of Awakening Rite is chanted in the early morning hours
