The Hariwake can be thought of as a metallic version of the scaled Kohaku, with its coloration following the same principles. A solid white base with areas of color overlying the base. Unlike the Kohaku, it's overlying colors can range from a deep red to a bright yellow (known as a lemon Hariwake)

The Kikusui is the doitsu version of the Hariwake. It too follows the same principles as the Kohaku regarding pattern and coloration. Unlike the Hariwake, the overlying color on a Kikusui can only be red or orange as yellow would create a Doitsu Lemon Hariwake.

If the Hariwake and Kikusui are the metallic versions of the Kohaku, the Yamato Nishiki and Heisei Nishiki are the metallic versions of the Taisho Sanke. Featuring a solid white base, with clear patterns of red and black spread across the body. Their pattern and coloration follow the same principles as the Sanke. The Yamato Nishiki is scaled, while the Heisei Nishiki is doitsu (scaleless).
