The Pioneer Coal Mine & Steam Train is located in Ashland, Pennsylvania. We rode both trips offered. The mine train is extremely interesting and informative. The steam train ride is also interesting. Be warned, this is not a first class train with plush comfy seating. The train cars are authentic mine car bodies. You will feel every bump and dip in the track. It's a blast! I highly recommend a visit.
While in the area, be sure to visit the town of Centralia (or what's left of it.) The ground under the town has been on fire since 1962 when a vein of coal in a mine caught on fire.
