I started making this balm for my son when he developed mild eczema around 2 months old. I couldn’t get rid of it with lotion or plain essential oils. I wanted to treat it as naturally as possible and then I heard about tallow (or beef fat). All of the tallow creams of balms online were upwards of $40-$50 for a tiny jar! So I decided to make my own and he hasn’t had a flare up since! #sweetbeulahfarm
Recipe:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup jojoba oil
1/2 cup tallow
20 drops lavender
10 drops frankincense
10 drops chamomile
Sometimes I switch up the other two fats with shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter, etc but always keep the ratios to tallow the same. I also sometimes will add in about 1/4 cup of honey. Melt down all the fats, let it cool (preferably at room temp BEFORE putting in the fridge). Let it come to a butter like consistency and then whip with any mixer you have until it is light and and airy. Add essential oils if you choose!
