Gjirokaster is our absolute favorite place in Albania! Albania has so many beautiful beaches, stunning mountains, and cute towns but Gjirokaster’s locals are what stole our hearts! Once you see this video you will know why we think it is the best place. We had only planned to stop through for a few hours and see the castle but those few hours quickly turned into a few days. We met an expat who now calls Gjirokaster home and she introduced us to a ton of her friends and told us all the spots to check out. We got to enjoy local food, play and run all around a castle with the most jaw dropping views, and we arrived just in time for the annual Retro Albania festival. Old fashioned cars lining the cobble stone streets, swing jazz music filling the air; the joy was contagious. Yevhen and I love live music and this type of big band jazz they had is our favorite. We feel so grateful and cannot recommend visiting Gjirokaster enough!
