I was thoroughly aware that making a documentary of the legendary Rudy Plaate would bring me the responsibility of providing at least one, or maybe more, conscientious re-interpretation of one of his songs. I decided on the well known “Atardi”.
Rudy tells that out of his more than 400 songs, “Atardi” is not necessarily his favorite, but it surely is the best known and most sung of his repertoire.
I pulsed Michael Lampe for his interest in re-interpreting “Atardi”, based on his trajectory, and his talent and expertise to connect classic music to modern/contemporary music. He liked the idea and immediately started working on “Atardi”.
Next, I approached Kris Berry who also was happy to join Michael.
I also asked ZOINX if he felt for a verse on the track, he didn’t think twice. Actually, ZOINX got so inspired he started composing his text on the spot and had it done in 30 minutes!
