Isabel Stadnick - Back to the Roots

Fascinated with Native American Indian culture, Isabel left a relatively normal and comfortable life in Switzerland in 1989, and went on an extended trip to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Here she met her husband an Oglala Lakota tribal member, they founded the Lakota Waldorf School. Isabel feels that the best way to prepare for the future is to ground one's self and one's community in the past, in heritage and roots. Isabel says, "In order to know where we are going, we have to know where we come from, and this is the best way for children to be the creators of their own future."

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
