Mark’s Top Tips for growing Magnolias are:
Position – try and place them in some morning sun with afternoon shade because they don’t like the midday heat.
Soil – they prefer slightly acidic soil that is well drained with plenty of added humous.
Fertiliser – Use some slow-release, general-purpose fertiliser every 3 months.
Mulch – this helps to keep the roots cool and the weeds away.
Pruning – formative pruning can be helpful to life the crown and remove crossing branches or dead wood.
