Fred Martino talks with Scott Simon of NPR News. He anchors NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday and has been with NPR for more than four decades, beginning in 1977 as Chicago bureau chief. Simon has reported from all 50 states and five continents and has written nearly a dozen books. He's a guest of Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, speaking on challenges and opportunities in journalism.
