It is true, back in April of this year (2023) Norfolk Southern 1068, The Erie Heritage Unit, was assigned to the MROMI (Manifest - Roper Utah - Milpitas California) which runs through Reno. The original lash-up from Utah consisted of NS1068 & CP9782. In Sparks, UP4772 was added for the journey up and over Donner Pass. The lash-up shown in the chase consisted of these three locomotives. CP9782 may seem like a normal Canadian Pacific, but an interesting fact is that 9782 was one of the locomotives featured in the movie “Unstoppable” as AWVR777. With that, here is a rare and interesting lash-up on the MROMI between Sparks and Truckee!!
