This video teaches main or lexical verbs, that is, verbs that do the work of showing action. First the derivatives from the root or ‘to infinitive’ form of the verb is shown. From the root of the verb present tense, past tense, present participle and past participle forms are derived. Examples are given to show how these 5 forms are used in sentences. The lexical verbs can be classified as Regular and Irregular depending on the formation of past tense and past participle. This is also explained with examples. Since irregular verbs are most often misused a list of common irregular verbs and their various derivatives is given. A self-evaluation exercise is given at the end of this part of the video. Then there is a list of verbs which are transitive, those which are intransitive, those which are ditransitive and also those verbs which can be used both as transitive and intransitive. For each of these examples are also given. This is followed by an exercise for learners to check how much they have understood of the lesson taught in the video.
