I made this video for anyone upgrading their Fios router and facing a $149 service fee. Hope you enjoy the video.

Verizon Fios came to upgrade my internet service to a Gigabit Connection. Previously I was running off of the coaxial connection. Prior to this install I already purchased the recommended router off of ebay for $70 and the customer service rep indicated that that was perfectly fine, but a technician needed to come out to install the Ethernet cable. I hooked up the router and it was already working off of the coaxial port. I politely explained that I was pretty computer savvy and could probably do it myself if they could tell me what was needed, Verizon indicated that they would need a technician to do it and it was a $149 service charge. I was not happy about this, they would not wave the fee and since I was already doing some negotiating on the service, I felt like that would be fair because I wasn't exactly sure what the install would entail.

The technician was shocked when he saw the router and the box, he actually laughed and said "well this is going to be a quick job". After plugging the Ethernet cable in (less than 2 minutes) he activated the Ethernet port and did a signal check. All was well so he was on his way out and indicated I should probably call and complain because it was no necessary for him to do that if I was willing and capable. Long story short, do your research first before you call to make changes to your account. I was pressured on time after we figured out all the billing and changes and then felt pressured to agree to a service tech installing. Hopefully this video helps you avoid that and makes for an easy upgrade and installation.

Old Router: Actiontec MI424-WR
New Router: Verizon Fios Quantum Gateway FiOS-G1100 Wireless Router - 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz - Gigabit Ethernet

*Update, they gave me a $75 credit towards the install after I called and complained.
