My good friend Jordan and I spend 2 days on Portsmouth Island cooking good food, drinking beer, soaking up the sun, and trying to keep enough blood in our veins to keep us alive for the 10 hour drive back to Florida. The bugs on Portsmouth are legit. 2 Legit to Quit, in fact. I am convinced that the "no-see-ums" actually fit through the screen mesh on my swag.

But do not be dissuaded from camping there. We later learned that if you just camp a few feet closer to the water away from the dunes, you can avoid the blood-sucking Tusken Raiders of Portsmouth. Next time we will be better prepared.

The trip was amazing. The place is beautiful. Simply gorgeous. I will be back.
