Burt Lancaster: 60 Second Bio

Burton Stephen Lancaster, born on 2nd November 1913 in New York City, was an American actor and producer. He initially pursued a career as an acrobat before turning to acting in the 1940s. Lancaster gained recognition for his debut role as Swede in "The Killers", which marked his breakthrough in Hollywood.
Known for his rugged charm and versatility, he starred in a wide range of films spanning various genres, including "Elmer Gantry", for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor.
Throughout his career, Lancaster demonstrated his acting prowess in classics such as "From Here to Eternity", "Sweet Smell of Success", and "Birdman of Alcatraz". He also ventured into producing and directing, earning acclaim for his work behind the camera.
He was an outspoken advocate for civil rights and environmental conservation.
He continued acting well into his later years, earning critical praise for performances in films like "Atlantic City" and "Field of Dreams". Burt Lancaster passed away in 1994, leaving behind a legacy as one of Hollywood's most iconic leading men.
