Vanessa Williams was crowned Miss America 1984. The 57th edition of the pageant was held on 17 September at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She became the first African American woman to win the title. Vanessa is a singer, actress, and fashion designer. She has received many awards such as NAACP Image Award, Satellite Award, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
