Strawman Fallacy
The Straw man fallacy is an argument that distracts from the main issue by distorting an opponent’s position and then arguing against that distortion rather than an opponent’s actual claim.

It is called a strawman because the arguer builds a misrepresented argument simply to make it easy to knock down.

The Strawman fallacy is violated when a person attempts to win an argument by exaggerating their opponents' position in an attempt to make their position look as bad as possible.

In this Donald Trump claims that the democratic position on border control is open borders and that they don’t mind crime. “Open borders and not minding crime” is a straw man fallacy. It is a misrepresentation of his opponent’s position that he crafts in order to easily knock down.

In this clip Bernie Sanders defends himself against a straw man argument that Hillary Clinton had been making against his views on healthcare. She claimed that if he was elected, he intended to dismantle or start healthcare from scratch. She does this knowing that it makes his argument look silly and easy to fight against.
