Join us! As 3 of the QAM crew venture into the mountains to hunt down one of the most well preserved abandoned mines they are yet to discover on QAM. Initially planned as a full two day prospecting trip, the crew quickly shifted plans for day two after discovering the tonnage pulled from this mine whilst operational in one of our reports. Join QAM as they brave slippery rivers barefoot on the hunt for alluvial gold and summit mountains on day two on the hunt for the main workings. At a later date QAM will produce a video showing the gold yield from the crushed hard rock, the sluice concentrates and dirt samples taken from around the mines. We expect the AU to be almost zero, as QAM are possibly the worst prospectors to ever air content in Australia.
On this day two hike the QAM crew experienced a new danger in the form of deadly plants! John and Eb pushed through a rainforest section above the very remote crooked creek and were both stung by a dense thicket of Dendrocnide Moroides, or toxic "Gympie Gympie" plants. These plants contain a similar toxin to cone snails and can kill fully grown adults.
We hope you enjoy this adventure as much as we did filming and producing it.
For anyone hiking in NSW and QLD, here is some details around the toxic plat the guys encountered. We have also linked below a story of the deadly impacts this toxic plant can have.
