#RyanMosley (*1980, lives and works in London) synthesizes art-historical themes, styles, and movements into surreal, folk-inspired paintings that are wholly contemporary, yet appear timeless.

Mosley does not sketch his paintings beforehand, instead treating his paintbrush as a pencil to build large-scale images through layers of translucent washes for a batik quality. This spontaneous technique results in theatrical spaces and fantastic scenes, at once whimsical and tragic, ambiguous and intriguing.

Ryan Mosley（萊恩 ‧ 莫斯里）生於 1980 年，現於倫敦生活及工作，在其超現實、受民俗文化啟發的繪畫作品中統合了不同藝術史主題、風格及流派；他的畫作既全然當代，亦顯得永恆。莫斯里創作時不會事先打稿，而是以畫筆作為鉛筆，透過一層層半透暈染上色，來建構大尺幅圖像，並創造出一種蠟染質地。這種自發的技法製造出戲劇感強烈的空間及奇幻場景，同時予人異想與悲劇的感受，既曖昧又迷人。
