As a species, humans stand at a pivotal juncture where our collective decisions will echo throughout time, impacting both ourselves and the world around us. Modern science has granted us remarkable control over natural and synthetic processes, bringing significant benefits. However, these advancements have often come at the expense of our planet’s flora and fauna. Modern colonial governments have largely built their systems on principles of ownership and dominion. But what if we reimagined these structures, infusing them with indigenous values of respect, reciprocity, and relationship? How would our tools and systems transform if they were informed by these principles? This shift in perspective could potentially lead to more sustainable and harmonious interactions with our environment.
