✅ Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) is also known by other names, such as pharaonic or gray quail. The main reason for their cultivation is the eggs, which are rich in many nutrients. Japanese quail meat is also increasingly in demand, as people are slowly becoming familiar with its qualities.

✅ These are small birds whose weight is usually around 100-120 grams, with the fact that there are types of Japanese quail that are used for meat production and their weight is around 300 grams.

✅ One of the most common questions is how long they are kept to lay eggs, and the answer would be between 12 and 18 months. Otherwise, they start laying eggs very early, it happens already after 50 days after hatching from the eggs. The price of Japanese quail eggs is not high, but the fact is that several eggs are taken at once. Now, what and how you should agree with a nutritionist who will give concrete advice.

✅ Most often, the following schedule is used as food for Japanese quails, initially after hatching, food for chicks, and after 40 days, it is slowly switched to food for laying hens. This transition must be done gradually, with gradual mixing of quail food.

✅ If there is nervousness among Japanese quail, they do not start fighting among themselves. If a large number of birds are present in the cage, more serious injuries can occur, and some of them may even die. The cause of nervousness does not have to be only food, it can be great heat in summer, noise coming from outside, or moving from one cage to another.

✅ As I mentioned, for information on how many Japanese quail eggs should be taken per day, it is best to consult a nutritionist. Eggs of Japanese quails come in handy in the diet and usually, several pieces are hatched at once.

✅ The meat of Japanese quail records a gradual increase in its use. Japanese quail are kept in a ratio of 3 females and 1 male. As there are both males and females during hatching, a larger number of male Japanese quails appear immediately, which are not needed and can be used for meat production.

✅ The production of Japanese quail chicks is also an important item because all breeders mainly work on their production. Over the centuries, Japanese quails have lost the urge to lay eggs and hatch chicks, so this is mostly done using an incubator. There are several models, single-layer and double-layer incubators, so you should find out from the manufacturer the procedure for hatching quail chicks.

✅ Cages for Japanese quail usually consist of several floors, which are called batteries. Between these floors, which are usually 30 cm high, sheets for collecting excrement are typically placed. Some of the cages can be equipped with automatic waterers, while others have containers in which fresh water should be added regularly.
