Today marks the third day of the hearing conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard into the tragic implosion of the Titan submersible, which claimed the lives of five people during its deep-sea expedition to the Titanic wreck.
The day began with Jason Neubauer, chairman of the Marine Board of Investigation, giving his opening remarks. Chairman Neubauer also stated that all witnesses involved in the hearing will be subject to detailed investigation, emphasizing the importance of gathering comprehensive information to uncover the full story behind the Titan disaster.

As the hearing continues on the third day, the first witness, Renata Rojas, a former "mission specialist" for OceanGate, has taken the stand. Her testimony is emotional as she recalls her personal connection to the Titanic and her experience working with the company.
Ms. Rojas began by describing her background and deep connection to the Titanic. She shared that she had been a scuba diver since the age of 12 and had been "obsessed with the Titanic since I was 12." Although her career path initially led her to banking rather than oceanography, she explained that she always sought a way to visit the Titanic. She discovered that non-scientists could participate in expeditions, which led her to sign up for OceanGate.
Before OceanGate, Ms. Rojas had also signed up with Deep Ocean Expeditions, but the expeditions were ultimately cancelled.
When asked about her prior experience with submersibles, Ms. Rojas clarified that she had no prior experience with submersibles before joining OceanGate. However, she had the opportunity to dive to the wreck of the Britannic with another operator.
