Final Fantasy VI is the property of Square Enix.

Hey guys, Back again after a while with a new VGM cover. I haven’t posted in several months as I have been busy with other things, plus I haven’t always felt in the mood to make another VGM over. However despite that I have been working on this cover sporadically over the past few months.

Recently I have been playing Final Fantasy VI on the SNES mini which I got back at Christmas. Definitely one of the best games I have played in a while, and so I really wanted to cover a tune from this game. Plus this year marks the 25th anniversary of the games original release. In the end I did a cover of the battle theme. A nice and simple tune that would make an awesome Hard Rock/Metal cover.

I thought a unique take on this arrangement would be to start off the cover with Terra’s theme and transition into the battle theme just like in the game, which meant automating the zoom in/out motion in the video and replicating the encounter sound FX in the recording. For me I found the closest I could get on the guitar to replicate that sound was to pick scratch up the neck. To end the cover I thought adding a rendition of the victory fanfare would be a nice touch as not many people have done a cover of that theme too.

I hope you enjoy this video and stay tuned for more VGM covers.
