Are you planning a trip to see the biggest trees in the world?! Here’s everything we wish we knew before our recent visit to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

#Sequoia and #KingsCanyon, while technically two separate #nationalparks, are managed as a single park unit by the #nps. They’re literally right next to each other in Eastern California between Yosemite and Death Valley.

Both parks are enormous and include tons of wilderness areas along the Eastern Sierras, including Mount Whitney. It’s a #backpacking paradise that includes 4 distinct ecosystems (foothills, forest, sub-alpine, and alpine).

Did we mention the largest trees on the planet grow here? Sequoia is home to several groves of Giant Sequoias, the largest on earth.

You can even drive your car through one!

Here are the highlights of our visit to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks:

General Sherman Tree (the largest known living tree)
Moro Rock
General Grant Tree
Tunnel Log
Hume Lake
Hospital Rock

While the main road into Kings Canyon (Kings Canyon Scenic Byway - Hwy 180) was closed to vehicles during our visit, we still found.a way to hike in using the Don Cecil Trail from Lookout Peak! The road is expected to re-open the summer of 2024.

If you plan to camp or boondock in the park, we found the PERFECT location in Sequoia National Forest off Forest Rte. 14S11. The exact coordinates are 36°42'39.9"N 118°51'54.0"W
