Tyda: Jewel of the Eastern Ghats

Tyda is a small village nestling in the wooded hills of the Eastern Ghats, on the way to Araku from Vizag. Tyda is located 75 kms from Vizag. This place is a natural bounty of flora and fauna. It is now home to an enchanting date with untouched nature. An AP Tourism department in association with the Department of Forests has established the Jungle Bells Nature Camp, an Eco-Tourism Resort. The camp provides great views of Eastern Ghats, facilities for trekking, hiking and bird watching in addition to accommodation in log huts amidst serene surroundings. A must see place for nature lovers.
You can also plan to visit Araku town which is 35 kms away. While you are there visiting the Tribal Museum and Coffee Museum. At the Coffee Museum do sample their drinks like ice-chocolate and the regular latte. Both the museums have a sales counter; do check them out as well.
Tyda shows the world that it is perfectly possible to conduct life without a telephone, a cell phone or a TV remote. Tyda’s beauty is heightened primarily because it remains impervious to the overtures of mobile phone companies. This little jungle camp has neither landline nor mobile connectivity.

There are a lot of activities to fill your days in Tyda, especially for those looking for a break from city life. An early morning walk in the dew, a power trek across the ravines to reach the summit just in time for a glorious sunrise, watching birds go about their daily routine, rock-climbing, target shooting: take your pick from Tyda’s nature-friendly activities.

Tourists can enjoy their stay in log huts and tents set in a rural environment.
The resort organizes trekking, bird watching and the Dhimsa dance on weekends as well as on Tuesdays and Thursdays on request and sometimes free.
On other days, however, you can hire a guide.
This is also a great spot for Birdwatchers, although the heat keeps most of the birds away during summers. Thus, the best time to visit is around October to February.
