Despite China's various signs of economic distress - bankrupt real estate developers, declining exports, etc. - leading economic authorities still project growth for the Chinese economy. Beijing published promising Q3 economic data and mainstream media outlets repeated the positive narratives. But one Chinese financial firm sent a letter to its investors with brutal honesty: please take your money and run. This letter kept me thinking why we are so blind about China’s economic truth.
