In July 2021 I thru-hiked the 30.1 mile Art Loeb Trail (hiking end to end), as well as the side trail to Cold Mountain. In this video I go through the main considerations for planning a hike on the Art Loeb Trail, whether you want to thru-hike the Art Loeb Trail or section hike it. Here’s a table of contents for the video. Be sure and check out the resources below, including my GPX map files for use in any GPS map reader, like GAIA or Avenza.

Resources I mention in this video:

– Art Loeb Trail GPX map files: You can download these from my website and use them in a free GPS map app like GAIA or Avenza. https://unfetteredfootsteps.com/trip-...

–GAIA GPS website: I frequently use GAIA for trail maps. It works on airplane mode so it doesn’t drain my battery, but still allows me to see exactly where I am on trail at any point in time. https://gaiagps.com

–Shuttle Option #2: Pura Vida Adventures. Bear Canister rental is also available through Pura Vida. https://pvadventures.com/art-loeb-tra...

–Sawyer Squeeze Water Filter. I used this and two SmartWater bottles to filter water on the trail. I use it on all of my long hikes! https://amzn.to/3zV5LWu

–BV500 Bear Canister. This is the bear canister I own and is my go-to when I need it. https://amzn.to/3nmQB7k

–BV450 Bear Canister. This is a smaller version of the BV500, if you don’t need something as big for your own hikes. https://amzn.to/3zS7onx
