Jeffrey Jacob "J.J." Abrams is an American filmmaker, writer, producer, and composer. He was born on June 27, 1966, in New York City, and grew up in Los Angeles. Abrams is best known for his work in the science fiction, fantasy, and action genres, including TV series such as "Alias," "Lost," and "Fringe," and movies such as "Mission: Impossible III," "Star Trek" (2009), and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015).

JJ Abrams started his career as a screenwriter in the 1980s. He wrote and produced for several TV shows, including "Alias" and "Lost".
