A detailed demonstration of the startup of a late nineteen-twenties Caterpillar model Sixty. During it's years of production, the 60 was the largest crawler in Caterpillar's catalogue, weighing in at 19,000lbs. Built from 1925 until 1931, the 60 was a highly successful design that Caterpillar inherited from the C. L. Best Tractor Company when the Holt Manufacturing Company merged with the former to create the Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1925. C.L. Best had began building the 60 in 1919. Powered by a massive inline four cylinder engine displacing 1128.2 cubic inches (18.5 litres), the sixty developed 72 flywheel horsepower at a mere 650 RPM. Top speed is stated at 3.6mph (5.8km/h). The sixty excelled at both industrial and agricultural jobs and continued to do so long after machines where fielded to replace it. Pioneer Acres Museum, Irricana, Alberta.
