The Kagyu Monlam known as the Kagyu Prayer Festival, is a traditional Buddhist ceremony that is performed to accumulate merit, purify negative actions, and create the causes for enlightenment. The ceremony is led by the spiritual head of the Kagyu tradition, and involves the recitation of specific prayers and practices that are believed to be particularly powerful for generating compassion, wisdom, and spiritual insight. It is usually held annually and is attended by thousands of practitioners from around the world. The goal of the Monlam is to create a powerful collective energy of compassion and positive intentions that can benefit all living beings.
