Today I received a scops owl. It lived with a family for some time, and it was supposedly examined by a vet, but that's all the information I have.
I brought it home, unpacked it, and I now observe it. It feels quite chubby to the touch and has damaged feathers in its wings and tail.
In its infancy, this owl has been taken out of its natural environment by poachers. Now I have to examine it and decide what to do next: return it back to the wild or leave it in captivity permanently. Please, don't take owls without any certificates, otherwise you motivate poachers to continue stealing animals from nature. Out of ten poached scops owls, one might survive, while the rest die suffering from improper care and feeding.
