i’ve always wanted to do exactly this. i recently found an old note in my iCloud that said “idea: make a visual album, dated October 9th, 2014”. i wanted to create a visual representation of exactly what my album looks like - a way for your eyes & ears to experience it together. i made this album movie with one other person - a filmmaker that i was living with inside a chaotic Los Angeles music venue throughout 2022. we were strangers the day i moved in. i told him that I wanted to display how music and color are two different sides of the same coin. to execute that, we individually colored every frame painstakingly for almost a year. this film follows 2 individuals watching each other in different realities through a spyglass - a representation of how others can always see the unique journeys we travel even at moments when we feel most alone. one of these characters lives in our reality (a musician in his workspace), the other character being an explorer following a map through a faraway land, searching for a rainbow mountain called “The World Border”. in 2022, i became fascinated with a real place called “The Karman Line” - a small area 62 miles above the sea level of Earth, the exact location that outer space begins… the border of the world. the jumping off point that signifies trading comfort and certainty for the excitement and danger of the unknown. i am nothing but happy to be able to participate in the global exchange and conversation that is music & art, and i hope that the love and attention to detail that goes into every piece of my projects can put a smile on your face. enjoy my 3rd album, “indigo jack & the new world border” -john
